1999 f250 superduty tranny

why do i have to use a tranny from a 1999 f250 superduty 4x4 with a 5.4 what is differnt in 2000 or what ever thanks zack

The transmissions in a 1999 and a 2000 Superduty are identical, as long as both have the same engine and both are 4x4.

sounds like a torque converter or front pump to me.

since you have the E40D i'd just drive it or you could get it flushed and see if that helps. when it goes i'd get a reman tranny from either ford or jasper that way it will be the same as a 4r100 which is just the updated E40D but its much better and jasper has done some modifications to the torque converters for the E40D's.

4r100 started in like 02 or 03. my friends 01 had a 7.3 psd and an E40D
