Remote Starter Safety Tilt Switch

I had problems with my remote starter, but figured out it was the vehicle orientation in my driveway. I seems that there is a safety device, in the form of a tilt switch, mounted under the engine hood. In the event a mechanic is working in the engine compartment, with the hood open, the engine will not start if the button on the key fob is accidentally pressed. However, it seems that if my truck is even slightly positioned down hill, at a very small decline, the remote starter fails to start the engine.
My question is, can I cut the tilt switch wire and remove this from the circuit without affecting the remote starter (Ford Silver Dealer Installed)?

I wouldn't...might wind up in a bad situation due to everyone and their dog being sue-happy nowdays.

I would consider replacing the tilt switch with a pin switch if it's causing you problems though...you can get one at pretty much any autosound shop that deals with auto-starts & alarm systems.

Tilt switch? What tilt switch? I have an huge box of about 500 of those from all the Ford remote starts I do. Never use them for exactly that reason. Wasted time and gas to go fix a stupid roller ball sensor that has either adjusted itself or the customer didn't know what it was so he pushed it up against the hood and changed it's level. Now they do come in handy for sensors for tailgates, bed covers, tool boxes and such.

Perhaps you could answer my question Sir, on my 04 screw fx4 I have a viper alarm/remote start, model 5900 with the responder sst transreceiver, and I was wondering if it could be causeing my truck to die without warning. I've had it on for about a year and a half with no problems, do these things somehow corrupt the system? My truck died on my doing 70 on the highway with absolutely no indication that something was wrong and when I came to a stop the red anti theft light on the dash started blinking at me. It will die just sitting at idle as well, and I had the plugs and filter changed, so I dunno, any thoughts?
