Should I or should I not?

I have my transmission out of my truck It is a 5 speed manual. My sister tore it up going down I-65. It popped out of 5th and she put it back into the wrong gear. I have it out and I took off the shift plate, I have no idea how to fix this thing so I was thinking about going to the junkyard and getting an old automatic tranny . The engine is a 3oo in line 6 with EFI. If i try to put a different tranny will it effect the efi? Will the same drive shaft work? The idiot that removed the tranny ( my ex BIL) broke off the clutch line so I am wondering if an old auto tranny aught to be the way to go. The floor already has a hole in it so if I find n old mustang shifter It ought to work. What do yall think?

Sounds like this project is above your pay-grade.

It's time to bring in a more qualified mechanic.

Take online advice for what it's worth. But consider that you may want someone to actually look at it before you get anymore "hands on".

Yeah it is aggrevating. I plan on using this truck on my timberland. I have several old houses that need restoring and I have several old vehicles. I have a 1956 pickup boght by my grandpa with 114,000 miles on it, bad radiator. their are 2 old cars a 49 ford and a 48 ford. I was going to use this truck as a farm vehicle. Like you said I may just haul it up there and park it for a while also.

First thing I would recommend you do is purchase a shop manual. The second thing I would recommend you do is purchase a used manual transmission. The third thing i would recommend you do is purchase a new clutch and slave cylinder and the broken line. Put it all back the way it came out.
