Question Stuttering and Jerking

I have a 2004 F-150 Lariat and my truck sometimes jerks when i attempt to accelerate. It also seems to be down shifting when i release the gas pedal when driving. My O/D light started flashing and transmission failure appeared on my dash. I took it to the dealership and they said they needed to reboot my PCM but that didn't work. I talked to a former owner and they stated that it may be the coil packs. Can anyone give me any insight?? I will be taking it to a transmission shop tomorrow. Thanks.

You need the computer fault codes. However, if the PCM was reset, you may need to wait until a failure episode takes place and the O/D light flashes again so that a fault code is stored.

Faulty coils won't cause a flashing OD light.

Well i took my truck to mr. transmission and they've had it almost 2 weeks. They pulled the pan and found metal and junk in my pan. What could this be? Bad parts inside the transmission?

A broken transmission. It needs to be rebuilt.

Good luck with the Mr. Transmission. I had the worst experience ever with the one in Macon Ga.. Bunch of crooks, that's all I can say.

I have seen those places call the normal clutch material on the magnet 'metal in the pan' more times than I can remember. Pretty much the call is that every transmission has 'metal in the pan'.

Best of luck to you on this.

What were your issues with mr. transmission? I did have the tranmission rebuilt and I have noticed a small amount of transmission fluid under my truck. I have a 10 day return visit back to mr. transmission so that they can check their work. Hopefully this tranny job is well done and i never have to replace it again.

Stuttering and Jerking

Memphis 10, Did you ever find out for sure if it was the transmission? I have a 2006 Lariat and it is doing the same thing except I do not get any warning lights. It does it when I accelerate very slowly. It normally does it when driving between 40-60 mph and try to slowly accelerate. Thanks,

Eddie, that is a classic symptom of a low grade misfire. Time for new spark plugs and/or new coils.
