Transfer Case Motor

I have 97 F150 Supercab 4x4.
As stated in my other posts my 4H does not work but 4L work. I have checked the fused and they are good. I can hear clicking in the dash but no light comes on.

So some of you have said that's the motor or bad connection. I'm going to try to replace the motor.

My question is this:

Is there an easy way to tell witch motor I have? I went to O'reilly's and when they put in my year make model it pulls like 4-6 different motors up.

I looked at the harness and it is rectangle on the outside and the same when you pull it ouf of the connector. The motor itself if rusted, I tried looking for a part number but couldn't see anythying. I also noticed the cables came out of the part that bolts to the transfer case, in some of the pics on their site they had motors where no cables came out of the plastic part.

Anyone know of a good way to see witch one I have so I can order the wright one?

Thanks,

You have a Borg Warner 44-06 transfer case. Ask them to look up a motor for that. If they cannot handle that look up a motor for a 1998 F-150. In 1997 you had the new style and the old style trucks. So that lead to there being a few different t-cases available a BW 1356 was available on the older model trucks.

Jean,

I got them to order the motor for the that specific TC....everything bolted up except the new motor did not have a cable to atach to the cable going into the transfer case. I have a black wire that goes into the TC, I guess it powers a coil that spools up so the gear can be engaged while driving in to 4H. Is there a certain part or is that wire suppose to be spliced into a new wire on the new motor? Mine has a square connector and the inside is square as well. 7 wire if I remember correctly.

Thanks,
Andy

MR42, check your other thread about the no-shift problem. I just posted how to swap that wire over to the new shift motor connector.
