transmission fluid??

i was wonderin about changing my trans fluid and droppin the pan and changing the filter too, but i was wonderins if i should just go with the regular ol' ATF and add a bottle of lucas (tranny slips and shifts hard) or if i should go with a synthetic trans fluid, theres a AMSOIL sythetic but good lord its expensive, and i really dont wanna spend that if its not worth it, so would regular ATF with a bottle of lucas work good enough to keep my trans from slippin and shiftin hard or would synthetic work better thanks for the help

I have used the Lucas Oil brand ATF. It works great. It is semi-synthetic and I have no complaints. I have Lucas Oil in one truck, and Royal Purple in the other. Considering that there isn't anything wrong with my transmissions, both brands have yet to fail me. Of course, with transmissions that aren't mechanically failing, how could the fluid fail me? B&M is also marketing their own ATF as well. B&M Racing seems to know their way around transmissions. But if a fluid change doesn't help, you may have to consider that you have mechanical issues with the transmission that need to be addressed with actual mechanical work.
