GOTCHA !
Well, the biggest problem with doing that method, is these newer trucks don't have a drain on the TC and its it doesn't get ALL the fluid, even when ya can drain the TC. Leaves quite a bit of the "old" still in the system.
To drop the pan, you simply get under there and start un-bolting it. Be careful not to spill it all over, and make sure ya got PLENTY of rags and proper clean up tools nearby. Pull the pan down and pour into your used oil container. Your gunna have some drippin down, so make sure rags are handy.
The newer trucks comes with a reuseable gasket, so you should be good there. Now just bolt pan back up, and fill (through dipstick tube is the easiest).
** make sure you have the engine running and warmed up a bit when checking the fluid level. Also know, that doing just the pan MAYBE gets up to 1/3 of the fluid in your trans. so you should do this method more often if your going to stick with it. I'd also look into an aftermakret tranny pan, one with a drain plug (Mag Hytech). It'll make it MUCH easier next time around.
