i need help on if i should chage fluid or not.

i have a 1997 4.6L with a 4RW70 the truck has 126,000 miles on it and the tranny fluid+ filter have never EVER been chaged every now and then it slips from 1st to 2nd. but not all the time and ive check the fluid its full and it doesnt smell burned and there is no metal on the dipstick...Should i change my fluid and filter in my tranny?? will it help?

Yes, this will give you a new reference point in which to gauge problems regarding the transmission.

Drain the torque converter too.
