How to drop a 1998 F150 Transmission

I need to find information on how to drop an auto transmission in a 98 F150 with a 4.2 4x4 and roughly how long it will take to perform. I am worried about some of the bolts really being rusted which will increase the time. I will have it rebuilt and then I will have to reinstall it. Obviously money is a huge issue which is why I am attempting this. I do have a mid range lift in my garage that I pick up cheap. It goes up roughly 46". Thanks for the help.

A Chilton or Haynes manual for the truck would be the best 20 bucks you can spend.

Yup. Get the manual. If you are handy with a tool I would say it should take you about 5-6 hours to remove the tranny & t-case. Read the procedure and make sure that you know what you are getting into. Removing the t-case involves removing some 13mm bolts that are in a tight spot. A ratchet will not fit on all of them. You will be using a 12 point wrench and going about ¼ turn at a time. A real PITA. Expect some grief on the starter bolts too. You will need a 12mm 12 point socket or box wrench to remove the drive shafts bolts. I have a ½ drive 12 socket that I use. It is all in the leverage.
