Factory Tech Separator Plate Kit?

I sent an email to Factory Tech because I am interested in getting the above for my 03 F150 5.4 with the 4R70W trans. I wanted to know if they sell and ship to Canada or if they have a dealer in Canada but my email remains unanswered. Does anyone here know?

talk to mike dunn, he can hook you up.

http://www.madenterprise.com/F150.htm

when you go install it, follow these instructions or else you'll get whiplash

The directions are pretty simple.
Remove the valvebody.
Remove the 2-3 accumulator cap pull the spring out, lightly bend the tabs on the cap to hold it in place inverted and then remove the 1-2 accumulator with a pair of snap ring pliers. depending on which model, year, and engine you have you may have different spring combinations. Don't worry about that. Install the supplied brown spring back into the bore then put the piston in. Now put the leftover 2-3 spring up into the bore and put the cap on. then reinstall the snapring. That is likely to be the hardest part of the whole swap because you have to hold against spring pressure to install the cap. I use my thumb, but I have had alot of practice. Now scrape off all your old valvebody gaskets. Install the new gaskets and torque all bolts to 100inch lbs.

i have mine in that way and it still shifts great while grabbing rubber at WOT

if you install it the "regular" way you may get whiplash, I did that and had to go back into the trans to soften the 1-2 upshift.

I printed off the directions you put above and I am going to install it that way the first time. I am not driving a race car here so I don't need the neck snapping shifts. Thanks for all the info and I am looking forward to getting this in soon.

That is exactly what it is. From what I have read it has the same effect as the Troyer trans valve body but is 1/3 the price.

Well I put the FTSP kit on this weekend. It does shift a lot firmer and overall feels good so far. I have not had much seat time with it yet. I think the shifts from 2 to 3 may be a little too firm for my liking. It seems to shift much firmer from 2 to 3 than 1 to 2 with the installation directions above. I searched out some old threads where a few people have had this complaint already. It was suggested in one of them (by dirtydog I think) to put the inside spring from the two spring combo out of the lower portion of the 1-2 accumulator in the 2-3 accumulator. Has anyone here done this?

I will try it out as installed originally for a while longer to see if it really is going to bother me. I really am not looking forward to going back in as it took me the better part of 5 hours to do it the first time (I had never done one before and really took my time) and made one hell of a mess of the floor in the garage. Did the 2 to 3 shifts without any spring in the accumulator bother anyone else recently? I think only two people in old threads with older trucks and possibly older versions of the kit than mine said they did.

That isn't quite accurate. The valve body you can get from Troyer is not just a simple plate mod and accumulator spring swap like that kit is.

No offense, but that is like saying drawing is the same as a photograph. You can indeed get the basic idea across with the first, but once you have the other then you will see what you have been missing.

Also, nothing against the kit that you have for a truck. That is pretty much what it was actually designed for and it should work ok. It's a decent choice for people who are worried more about price than overall performance and shift feel.

If you don't like the 2-3 shift then putting that spring in there will definitely soften it up.

No offense taken. It really wasn't a money issue. I had discovered through various research that the Troyer Valve body is a very nice piece. I was going to get one when I came across the Factory Tech stuff. FT also had a valve body that was said by several posters here and other forums to be exactly like the Troyer one. Both had rave reviews by all that have owned them. Then I saw that FT had phased out there valve body because he could get the same thing accomplished with the separator plate kit and it was cheaper. That is how I ended up with the FTSP kit.

I am intimately familiar with the offerings from Both Troyer and Factory tech on valve body and plate kits and can 100% guarantee you that what you will get from Troyer isn't at all exactly like the FT stuff. Now that isn't a slam on the FT stuff either. You can get some great products from FT, it's just not the same by any stretch. Different philosophies went into the design and production of these specific products.

I am curious though, did the kit that you got from Mike Dunn actually say it was a Factory Tech kit. I thought he was selling another product for those plate kits. That other product is pretty much an identical copy. What I was wondering is about the packing and documentation.
