Transmission Stutter

I have a 01 F150 Supercrew 4x4 (4.6L). When I am driving down the road (<60) at a steady speed and accilerate, the traansmission downshifts hard. At times it will stutter as if I was running over rumple strips. It does not do this all of the time but most of the time. Does anyone have an idea as to the problem?

Flush out the old tranny fluid

Thanx for your help. I had the tranny flushed @ 90K. I now have 126K. Do you think thet used the wrong fluid? Also, I didn't mention this before. I do tow a farily heavy (Appx 2600#) boat to the lake every weekend.

You need to change the trans fluid every 30k or you're going to have shudder problems. You're overdue.
