Question How to do direct drive with 4R70W

3rd gear is 1:1. I need to do a dyno at 1:1. There is no 3rd gear indicator on on the shifter. There is 1, 2, and D. Do you simply run in D with the OD button off? Is OD considered 4th gear?

Is this a dumb question?

Yes, yes, and maybe.

When in D with the overdrive off the trans will shift 1-2-3. Fourth gear is overdrive. It won't go into fourth gear with the OD off.

What is the dyno for? Just to see what kind of power the truck is making? You will find that in 3rd the tranny wants to down shift into 2nd at anything below 3000 rpm.

And the speed limiter will kick at about 4000 in 3rd if you have no programmer that disabled it.

Thanks for the input!

The speed limiter has already been raised well out of the way. The engine and tranny are rebuilt strong and the truck is supercharged. I'm wanting to finish my data logging for my Troyer tunes.

Ask Mike for a tune to lock 3rd on the dyno. It may cost a little, but money well spent.
