E40D acting wierd

My 96 f150 4x4 will only shift into 2nd and up if i let off of the accelerator, it will over rev untill i let off slightly then just fine. Anyone else have this problem?

My 97 E4OD did the same thing occasionally. I changed the VSS (Speed Sensor on side of trans), and the RABS (Rear ABS Sensor on rear end). It seemed to reduce the occurances. The last thing that I did that seemed to correct it was to change the transfer case fluid. It had never been changed (in 230K) and since changing, that trans shifts perfect now. I assume it was a combination of these three things. When I changed the sensors, I also applied a liberal amount of electrical tape because I seemed to have more occurances in the rain, or slushy snow.
