Which Transmission Do I Have...

I have a 1995 F150 Eddie Bauer automatic 2x4. I think that there are two transmission options on this model. The 8th letter of my VIN is N. Can someone help me out? I need a new trans and need to know which to order. Thanks!

Look at the blue tag in the driver's door opening. Under TR will be either an E or a U. E means E4OD and U means 4R70W.

Plan B: Crawl under there and count how many bolts are on the transmission pan.

Then refer to the stickied post at the top of this forum. It has ALL the information you need in one place already.

A 5.0 could be a E4OD or a 4R70W, the E4OD pan has 20 bolts.

As I said, count your bolts. We're not psychic and can't do it for you.

My pan has 14 bolts. Which is that? I was told that there is another trans called and A4 or something with an A as well.

You have a 4R70W then. You may be thinking AOD, the last year that was used in the F-150 was 1993. It was not electronically controlled.

You might also be thinking about the E4OD which has a 20 bolt pan.
