Transmission confused

My transmission has started to pause before 1-2 shift. Its like it goes to shift and then changes its mind and drops back to 1 and then finally shifts to second. It only does this at 3/4 to WOT but it is really anoying. Today i installed the canned tunes i got in my xcal3 from troyer. It still does the samething bu maybe worse. What could the problem be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

There is no end to the problems that
I hear about Ford transmissions. Having my
1st ford F150 97' I always followed the
rule in my gm's of if it ain't broke don't
touch it.
But with my 150 I have learned that a transmission
refill with proper fluid is a must. I can see that
long life can only be achived with 30K or less
flushes. If used for towing a change every year
is necessary.
Hopefully, you are adhearing to this rule.
It may not be too late.

Those rules apply to all automatic transmissions, a lot of people dont realize how much abuse the trans fluid takes, especially with in OD. Having the correct fluid in them is prbably more important than changing it though. The 94-01 dodge auto trannies (45re & 46re) are a perfect example, a lot of people put mercon in them instead of ATF+3,4 (which was available only from the dealer), so as a result they went out at a low mileage and people percieved them aas weak, the truth is the 45re and 46re transmissions were the old torqueflite transmissions with a solenoid pack and an OD bolt on the end, and the torqueflght trannies were considered tough as hell.

Its the first sign that your tranny is going out probably...

When I got my truck at 120K, the 4R70W would sometimes delay the 1-2 shift. Then it got worse, shifting somewhat harder and delayed longer, until around 160K sometimes it would REALLY delay the shift and almost bang the shift like it had a really aggressive shift kit in it.

After talking to some tranny guys, basically the line pressure is increased to make up for the losses through the seals and so forth, so the action in the still remaining parts is excessive(the hard shifts and delayed shifts).

I put a Ford reman in it and the issues were all gone.

Piston/plunger hanging in the accumulator body from contamination more less.

A Transgo Kit from Troyer will include new hardware and a good Flush + New Merc V Fluid or better yet - Amsoil Synthetic Fluid (keeps the temps down) will give it new life..

It worked for me

Good Luck
