E4OD dilema

I own a 92 f-150 4x4 with a 302 and e40d transmission, it is basically a work truck/plow truck, with almost 200,000 miles, in nice shape but recently i replaced the engine with a '87 and had the great idea to convert it over to a 2 barrel- points distributor and mechanical fuel pump, for ease of maintenace and reliability. Little did i realize at the time that the transmission would no longer work , I am asking if there is any way to still use this transmission, short of buying an aftermarket wiring harness/computer , Or would my best bet be to convert it over to a manual trans, or an older automatic. will appreciate any input. thanks

No, there isn't. It must have a computer to operate. Good luck.
