manual performance tranny?

i have a 2000 4.2L V6 5 spd. reg. cab short bed F150
needs a new transmission.
or a rebuild
but i was wondering if there is any performance transmissions for these?
or any transmission that people never complain about grinding and the 1-2/2-3 shift?
thanks

does your trans grind only when shifting fast like racing or all the time

if it does it all the time a rebiuld with new syncros should fix this

if only when "racing" theres nothing that can be done thats just the way these "truck" trans shift because ford doesnt think its neccisary to spend alittle extra for better design "dodge for instance is putting great manual trans in there trucks and jeeps now that shift much like a car"

as for putting a better trans in if 2wd it would be posible to install a strong and smooth shifting t56 6spd or tko 5spd behind the 4.2 it would be costly and would require more work than simply bolting it in like changing the length of the driveshaft and mount and the clutch hydralics but figure 2-3k for this if your doing all the labor

if your truck is 4x4 you could still install one of these trans but would have to run a divioced transfercase from a 70s truck and make alot of drive shaft changes but still posible
