75W140 full synthetic, and if it has limited slip, a 4 oz bottle of friction modifier from Ford. Get the sealant for the cover at Ford too.

Your owner's manual will have the fill capacity & weight.

I just did mine with Royal Purple Max-Gear 75W140.

I had the work performed by my Ford dealership. I felt a little better about having the work done by a Ford trained tech and being covered by the Ford dealership's warranty. I paid for 1 hour of labor.

The RP already has the friction modifier in it too...no need to add extra

That's what I plan on using when I finally install my Mag-Hytec.

I don't think that it is nesercery to drain and replace the axle fluid after having it under water. If this was the case I would have to do that 10 times a week during the spring, summer and fall. I have had to replace axel in my life. 50 years of driving 4x4's.

I did not know that it already had friction modifer in it. Would I be hurting the gears if I did add the friction modifer from ford? Thanks Ben

Call Royal Purple, and see what they say. Then ask the same question to Ford.
