Dies In Reverse After Transgo Shiftk...Dear God, Somebody Please Help Me!!
PLEASE!!!
This is the first time that I have used the forums to ask you F-150 gods for help and not just found the answer here in the forums. O.k.,
THE TRUCK;
1998 LARIAT 4.6, VORTECH S.C., 4R70W.
THE PROJECT: INSTALLATION OF TRANSGO REPROGRAMMING KIT AND B & M DEEP PAN.
THE PROBLEM: TRUCK DIES/STALLS/SHUTS OFF IMMEDIATELY WHEN SHIFT INTO REVERSE.
THE FACTS: FILTER IS ATTACHED FIRMLY, NEW RED-LINE ATF IS UP TO LEVEL, PROBLEM EXISTS WITH SOLENOID HARNESS UNPLUGGED AS WELL.
Its not only my obsession, she's my only means of transpo!!!
Any ideas.... ? I request your wisdom in council, so that I may learn the ways of "THE FORD".
You guys, are my only hope.

First off nice username... it's making me hungry.
It could be something wrong with the torque converter. Maybe someone else with a little more knowledge with automatics can chime in... I'm more familiar with manuals... obviously my username - manualf150.
Because of the business I am in I often hear stories like this. Based on past experiences I don't get into issues with this particular product. I highly suggest that you contact the company that manufactured the shift kit and see if you can get any technical support.

Thanks for the reply Darrin.
Unfortunately, I don't believe I'll be able to reach anyone by phone over at Transgo...on a Saturday. I really need to get this fixed over this weekend. If it was not my only vehicle, I would take a drive over to Transgo, for they are not that far from me but, till I can get this fixed.. I'm afraid I'm not going anywhere.
I did a Trans Go Shift Kit on my 97 and there were a few holes to drill and separator plates to put in.
I suggest you go back over the directions and try to determine if you put everything where it should go (those little ball bearing looking thingys) also.

And thank you, Mr. Ellenburger.
Holes were drilled in separator plate, Transgo gaskets installed and all check-balls (minus the one that transgo tells you to remove) are in place.
Sounds like you installed the shift kit correctly. I recently did the shift kit too...
Did you get all the electrical connections hooked back on the valve body? If so, the only thing I can think of (limited knowledge) is to remove the valve body and triple check everything. Make sure the parts are all facing the correct way... I don't know man, what a drag!
