gear selector indicator failed

I have a 2003 ford f350 superduty crew cab 4x4 pickup .. the gear selector indicator failed completely (prnd12) . I can no longer tell what gear I am in with out feeling for it. the operation of the transmission is unaffected .is this an easy fix or is a trip to the dealer necessary. any information would be appreciated...thank you!

Howdy and welcome!

Undo your fuse panel cover and look up at the column. See if the indicator string has broken, or the tube that holds it from the shifter.
