Exclamation Blown Clutch ??

I moved to Utah in the middle of August. My truck blew up 3 days before I came down here. My roommate has a 98 F150 4.6 v8 that I drive alot. Recently we found out that the throwout bearing was going bad. My mechanic buddy said that it was going to tear the springs on the clutch. So I was driving the truck and I shifted into 2nd then I was coming to a light shifted into 1st to slow down and then I was coming to a stop and pushed in the clutch there was no pressure in the pedal until the last half inch before it hit the floor. The truck wouldnt stop. With the clutch all the way down it seemed like the clutch was halfway engaged. So I pushed the clutch down and started the truck and had to drive home without stopping. When I did stop I would have to turn off the truck so it did stall. I was not able to shift gears, I couldnt even power shift. But i didnt try power shifting from 2nd into 3rd cause I couldnt start at 2nd with no clutch.

Thanks for the help

Is there a question in there somewhere???

Sounds like the slave blew - it's very common. The mechanic should swap it free (labor; you'll still have to pay for the part) when he does the clutch.

Send a message via ICQ to JMC
Yes there would be brake fluid, DOT3 used in clutch hydraulic system, dripping out.
