Shifts on Automatic Transmission

I have a bet with one of my friends regarding shifting in a 2006 or 2007 F-150, I don't care what type of truck, you name it, King of Ranch, FX4, 2x4, I don't care, let's just say it's an automatic transmission.

If I manually shift to the 1st gear, and start going at over 30, or 40mph, if the truck let's me, without me moving the shifter to any other gear, will the truck do the shifting for me? Or it will remain on 1st gear untill the tranny burns out?

If there's anybody here with automatic transmission and had tried this, or has information about it let me know please. Thanks.

well in my truck, once I had it in 1st, floored it, doing a burnout, and it rapped out so fast it automatically shifted to 2nd. It was on the rev limiter for a second though

So it did shifted for you... it wouldn't let the transmission burn

I haven't really tried that on mine, but I have the feeling it would also not shift by itself, but again... mine is a '97, I have the believe that a newer truck would do the shifting for you

I also had a bet with my buddy about this one, and I took my 2007 and left it in first. when I hit 5500 rpms, the rev kicked in for a second and then it shifted into second. It does that so that you cant blow up your engine I think.

Also, he did it in his truck (02 7.3 f350) and it did pretty much the same thing, except it didnt go to 5500, but it did it at 3000 I think.
