Cool Stainless Braided Transmission Cooler Lines Installed **PICS

I just got done swapping out my rubber lines for the SS braided set-up. It was very easy and I have to say, I love the way it looks. If anyone needs part numbers for any of this stuff, let me know...

Here's the stuff I used...

I swapped out the filter mount that came with the Summit Remote Trans Filter kit for this one. The Summit one had 1/4" ports and this one has 1/2" ports...

This is what the compression fittings that adapt the hard lines to the AN fittings looks like...

Everything went together very well and when I leak-checked all the fittings there wasn't even a hint of fluid.

Are you using the new filter in place of the one inside thetransmission?
or, is the new filter in addition to the one inside the transmission?

Also, please post all the part numbers.

I'm using the remote filter in conjunction with the pan filter. It makes filter changes easier when I service the trans because then I don't have to drop the pan. It also filters a lot better than the pan filter does to catch the really small stuff like clutch dust. Another plus is, in case the trans decides to grenade itself the filter will catch any fragments before they enter the cooler or the return line.

I got everything from Summit...

Filter Mount 1/2" NPT Inlet/Outlet (# PRM-1211) $15.95 X1
Fitting, Straight, -6AN Male to 1/2" NPT Male, Aluminum (# RUS-670150) $7.39 X2
Hose End, Straight, -6AN (# RUS-610020) $4.88 X2
Hose End, 90 Degree, -6AN (# RUS-610160) $13.95 X2
Full Flow Hose End, 45 Degree Swivel, -6AN (# RUS-613090) $16.95 X2
Fitting, Inverted Flare, -6AN to 5/8"-18 (# RUS-640380) $4.95 X2
Adapter, Compression Fitting, -6AN to 3/8" Tubing (# RUS-639210) $8.88 X2
Hose, PROFLEX, #6-6' (# RUS 632060) $27.88 X1

For a total of $157.83

Nope. It's a cooler off an F-250. I'm using it to help keep the fluid temps low because I'm running a high stall torque converter for racing.

Great idea!! Bet you can pick those up for a pretty good deal?? Did it make a drastic difference in temps?? What are the dimensions on it? I've been shopping for a better cooler for towing and didn't even think of that idea.

I never did any datalogging or anything. I have an Auto Meter Transmission Temperature Gauge with the sender installed in a gauge port on the side of the trans. Before I did the SD Cooler, I would see temps as high as 185-190 in the summer. That would be in stop and go traffic for 30 minutes on a 90+ degree day. Since I installed the SD Cooler, I haven't seen the temps get above 155 no matter how hot it is and how long I sit in traffic. It was definitely worth all the money and work.
