Grinding

Well I was driving tonight and when I would get on the throttle under 25mph there seems to be some type of grinding noise or metal on metal noise. Truck shifts fine, it just makes this noise. Not sure what it is and I am just now hearing it. Any ideas?

Constant grinding or does it stop? There are many older posts about 04s with solenoid and vacuum problems causing intermittend grinding from the front transfer case.

Mine grinds for about 1 -2 seconds then it usually quits. But I usually engage the 4x4 then disengauge it right away, and that makes it stop.
