questions about a trans swap T18 4 speed to a Mazda 5 speed
HI all. I have a 92 with a 300 I6 4X4 I do allot of highway driving and I have a T18 non O.D. 4 speed. I want to do a Trans swap to a 5 speed I was thinking a M5OD-R2 Mazda 5 speed. I also tow cars now and then. Will the Mazda 5 speed hold up to that? With the 4 speed I don't even notice the car back there. Also what all is involved in the swap will need the flywheel transfer and drive shafts?

That's a VERY rare transmission for a '92 F150. Are you sure?
There's not much to swapping them, but the Mazda is a light-duty transmission. If you tow, you'd be better off with the BW or the ZF.
I haven't done that swap (because I like my NP, which is almost identical to the BW), but I don't think you'd have to change much, if anything. Certainly not the flywheel or t-case; probably not the d'shafts; maybe the crossmember & slave cylinder.

Thanks steve you have answered both of my recent questions. We might have had a conversion awile back about my rare transmission. it was probbly last summer when i was going to sell my truck. (I am really glad i didn't. I don't think i will ever sell it.)
My trans is a 4 speed with a super low 1st gear good for about 8-10 mph. i have to be at a stop to shift into 1st and it still grinds.
Thanks again,
Kyle
