Please help with my issue ?????

I have a 2005 auto F150. Yesterday I was traveling over a grade. I usually do not climb hills in my truck. When I started up the hill the truck kept sounding like it should shift. It climbed up to about 5500 rpms doing about 65 mph up the hill. The truck sounding like it needed to shift but never did. Is this normal, or do you think I have an issue.

THank you for your time.

was your foot in the floor, if so it's not going to shift until you let off or the road flattens out a little. other than that you'd need to give more info how steep of a hill, towing, etc. help us help you.

It is not real steep, I am not sure how steep though. I let off the gas a couple times hoping it would shift but it did not until I reached the top. This may sound stupid, but is bad for your truck to drive at that high of RPM? It just did not sound healthy!

The rev limiter should have kicked in.Sounds like the tranny could not shift properly with that rpm range. Way too high.
