Today we had a bunch of snow, and the weather finally got the best of me. I skidded off the paved road and into a tree. Fortunately, I wasnt going real fast, and the damage was limited to the bumper.... (note to self: buy a lottery ticket later)
Then once I got winched out from where I was, I attempted to back the vehicle up in 4low. All I got was a loud bang, and no movement. The driveshaft twisted in half a few inches in front of the rear end.
So I dont know if the driveshaft is purposely built as a weak link to prevent damage to the transfer case or rearend, or what... either way, Im in the market now for a replacement shaft (its an extended cab/shortbed truck) and a new front bumper.
If anyones got any suggestions, Id love to hear them, especially if I can get my hands on something before the end of the weekend.
