Unhappy 4r70w tranny problems.

Another problem encountered! This project has been a prime example of Murphy's law.

Reinstalled 4r70w after engine replacement. 1999 F-150 4x4

Tranny was fine when removed 30 days ago.

Mounted tranny and engine together on the stand the lifted and put into trauck as a unit.

Bolted up to engine fine no problems. But now no movement....

Fluid fine.

soft squealing sound when put in gear. Engine idles up then sounds as if it is in gear but nothing.

Any idea on where to begin... Does this sound as if torque converter not seated corrected?
Thanks

It sounds like the torque converter came out of the pump. Was there free play beween the pads on the converter and the flex plate before you tightened the converter bolts/studs/nuts?

Tranny Problems 4r70w

There seemed to be free play.

I installed the torque converter ..tranny all together and then installed as a unit. Seemed to go together flawlessly but was I mistaken.

I since have pulled the tranny. What a pain in the ass!

I was told that I probably took out the pump as well since the fluid level does not fluctuate from non-running to running.

Any good way to test the converter....No visible damage

Thanks for the help... Any other ideas will be apreciated since I will not be able to get it back installed until friday.

Thanks Again,
RenBlades

4r70w tranny problems

Not sure what you mean "did I go into it"

When the tranny was out due to instaling the new engine NO repairs were made to the tranny since it was working flawlessly. Just had to add some fluid.

The tran is out and now. No visible damage anywhere (fluid was ok as well)(was changed about 1500 miles ago).

I know I will have to change the fluid and filter now.

Anyway to simply check the pump and or converter now that they are out.

Thanks Again
