98 F150 4r70w trans?
Anyone have any hints or tips to a "New" trans install?
Type of Fluids to start with, filling the converter, trans etc... Also, what is the best way to "Flush the lines and cooler before install? I plan to tow a 4000 lb travel trailer this summer, should I replace the stock cooler with a larger one? I have never installed a "New" dry trans, so any and all thoughts are needed. Thanks

I dont have any info for you right now but this upcoming weekend I will be putting a rebuilt tranny into my 97' 4.6L. I plan to post how it all went and what I wish I had done different or not. THis will be the first time swapping a tranny out for me. My tranny went out and spending $1500-$2100 to have a shop do the work is not in the financial ability now.

There is no need to fill the converter. The pump will do that as soon as the engine starts to turn.
After installing the trans pour 6 quarts down the dipstick tube. Start the engine and run for 1 minute. Shut it down and add 3 more quarts. Restart it, and move the shifter to each position (PRND21) for 5 seconds each. With the shifter back in park let it warm up for about 5-10 minutes. This will also allow fluid to drain out of the dipstick tube so that you have a chance of getting a good reading. Check the level with the trans warmed up and the engine idling in park. Depending on how much was in the trans it will take 1 to 30 more quarts of fluid to top it off. DO NOT OVERFILL!
