4x4 low light not working

I have a 2004 f150 4x4 with the electronic shift knob on the dash. When I turn the electronic shift knob to 4x4 high, the 4x4 high light comes on in the dash and I can hear it click on. When I turn it further to 4x4 low, nothing changes, the 4x4 high light stays on as if I did nothing. I know the 4x4 low light works in the dash because when I first start the truck it lights up as it should.
Anyone encountered this before? What might be the likely problem.
Thanks
Figgy

You need to be stopped, foot on brake (with workin brake lights) and in neutral to shift in and out of low range.

Didn't have it in *NEUTRAL*, had it in *PARK*.

Don't worry, did the same damn thing back in december '01 with the diesel being the first ESOF, (let alone automatic) dad or I ever had. I had to call the dealer.
