if you were missing 4th gear....

would pressing the OD off switch still downshift?
i only ask because i for some reason am not notice a gear shift somewhere?!?
and that would be 2-3. what i think would be 4th i think is 3rd, as i it'll go into it at 35mph which seems like a low speed. actually, it stays in the lower gear until i get over 35, then it'll shift. i notice it because most of the posted speeds are 35 around here, so when im right at 35 its reving higher. ill go over a few MPH to get it to shift. but any speeds over 35 i dont feel it shift again
my question is, when im at 35 or over, if i turn OD off, it will downshift. if OD off is supposed to shift to 3rd, if i was actually missing 4th id would be in third and it wouldnt downshift, correct?

truck is 1994 f150, trans is 4R70w.
PS, does anyone know what axle "H9" is?

Thank you

It should shift into overdrive around 40. That's what mine does anyhow. I would assume that you have all 4 gears if the OD button makes it rev a little higher. What rpm range are you in at 55? The H9 axle code is a 3.55 limited slip.

No Tach, so no idea... BUT, even cruising along at 70, 75 the engine isnt reving very high thats noticable.

i kinda figured with the OD button off and it downshifting i was ok, i just wanted to check. mainly because im towing my small boat about 300 miles round trip next summer, and wasnt gonna do it if i only had up to 3rd

Thank you!
