Question How do I...

make my transmission waterproof? How you keep from water going in there?

silicone all electric connections and extend your breather tubes. should help but really no guarantees there.

Yeah, pretty good idea's above - I did the dielectric thing myself - never had those wires or plugs screw up on me. After a years time , you can wipe it off the wires, plugs - they look bran new!!

Isn't there like a breather or a check valve that water can flow into?

breather tube. comes out of the transmission and points straight down. get some rubber hose from lowes and extend it to your engine bay, tucked up out of the way and with a one way valve or filter on it.

I'd be REALLY careful about extending a breather that points DOWN. On older trucks, Ford routed a hard breather tube UP from the transmission, then bent it into a U behind the engine, & brought it down at the side of the trans pan, pointing down. But they saw-notched it in the bend at the top so it couldn't siphon. That means that, if you added a hose to the bottom end, it wouldn't do anything since the notches would still be open.
