trans squeals on high rpm shift

my trans on my '03 supercrew will squeal on high rpm shift..it shifts perfect on light-med throttle shifts...I think maybe the 'puter needs reflashed for the convertor lockup?

It is not your transmission. It is your accessories belt squealing when the engine RPM drops suddenly while the accessories are still going full speed. Get a Goodyear Gatorback serpentine belt, which most people say it cures the problem, or do like I do ignore it. I know what it is and no big deal. Just a little noisy at WOT shifts.

When my alternator was going bad, this was one of the first signs. Right as it got to redline, the belt would squeal and the charge light would flick on for a half second right before the shift. If you hold the shifter in first to shift at a slightly higher RPM than stock, you'll see the light on for another second if your problem's the same as mine.

X3 here, that SOB had me worried, but now I know. It's when I kept going and it's like I popped it in Neutral that got me worried, tranny fluid change seemed to cure that.

It sounds like it is from the trans, but I would be willing to bet it isn't. Had the same thought the first time it happened to me on my old 01.

It's your truck's huge torque output spinning the tires on every shift...

Seriously though, it's the belts. This is why a lot of companies are going away from serpentine belts. That, and the round about routing makes for noisy accessories (that wonderful whining sound you get nearly all the time).

Speaking of which, anyone have any solutions for that? I hate the noisy accessory drive system (biggest reason why I put exhaust on), I'd rather hear the engine...

these ford trucks are turds....I made a mistake but for the price I got the truck new for $20,995 delivered in '03 I have lived with it...wife wanted a supercrew..I wanted a lightening she wanted enough room for my son to ride he's 6'6" 285 I said he could have fit in the bed of the lightening coarse 2 weeks later I bought a s/c for my stang so it was all good til now..I did put on a Gibson exhaust which help a tad wifey wanted it louder I had no problem in doing that atleast like 99% of other trucks it sounded faster even if it wasn't.
