I have 5 Fords P/U because they are work horses, was driving the 2000 F150 and all of the sudden it began leaking from a round fitting in the botton of the trans, and started loosing drive...is my trans gone or what? , please help
Where exactly is the leak? I would have the fluid level at least checked not to mention probably changing it. Addressing the leak should be in there too, might just need some tightening or something minor.
In my opinion, your trans is not at the end of it's road. I had the same thing happen with 2003 fx4. I tightened the bolt the fluid was leaking from and I haven't seen a drip for 10,000 miles (knock on wood). Dave
Yes, it could be as simple as a loose torque converter bolt. Spin the motor by hand till the bolt lines up with the hole and check. Or your seal for the tranny is toast (bad).
I had fluid leaking from the rubber or plastic round cover below the torque converter, ended up bieng the front pump seal. Torque converter plug? Not very tight, snug but no more because you have to watch not to over tighten.
