Help- starter went up on my 97 f150 supercab with 4.6 ltr v8 and auto trans with overdrive. This happened in back yard and after working on it over a couple of weekends with the battery disconnected, and after getting the new starter installed- it now won't shift up through the forward gears. It shifts from park to drive, or reverse, but when you put it in drive, it does not shift up through the forward gears, but you can drive it up to about 45/60 at 2800 to 3000 rpm. Did I do something to the PCM when the power had been disconnected for so long - what do I need to do to get back in business?

thats weird.ive never heard of tranny doing that after battery disconnect. so its staying in first gear all the way to 60 mph?? check your fluid level and condition.
