Post 2004 F150 4r75e Transmission

My F150 has 30K miles. Ford recommends transmission service at this milage. The dealer recommends bringing it in for the transmission transfusion using their machine for about $150 bucks and claims that this is the only way to service the unit. I asked about changing the filter they said it is not necessary on this unit. I would like to conventionally drop the pan, clean it, and change out the filter(or clean it). I realize that this wouldn't clear all the fluid but it seems that it would take care of whats most critical. Removing any loose material and having a new filter? Can anyone advise?

Dropping the pan only changes about 1/3 of the fluid. I'd change the filter than get it flushed for the best of everything, but it's your choice.

I think you want to flush and then change the filter.

When I had mine done they dropped the pan and changed the filter/fluid, then did the transfusion. I don't know if that is the best order to do it in, but that is how the shop I was at did it. They may have done it that way because they wanted to inspect the transmission first, then do a fluid change and transfusion.

Do they even have filters now? I was told they only have screens.

You were told wrong. There is a filter in the pan.
