flat tow with M50D

Can I flat tow (4-down; engine off; in neutral) a M50D at 55mph for a few hours without damage? I'm not a tranny guy but it seems to me that the rear end will still be turning the main shaft so will it get any lubrication - or does that matter?

I read somewhere that Ford said it was OK for the M50D but I can't find the lilnk. Any opinions? (otherwise I guess I crawl under and disconnect the drive shaft)

The output shaft relies on splash from the gears on the intermediat shaft for lubrication. When in neutral the intermediat shaft stops turning. No turning equals no lube.
