transmission searching

I read a post a few months back about someone's tranny searching for a gear while using cruise control. I noticed this past weekend that mine is doing the same thing. If I have the cruise on 60mph and I come over a hill and start to coast. Then when the cruise starts to resume, my speed will drop to around 50mph before the transmission finds a gear and starts back and then has to come out of OD and gain speed back to 60mph. I tried turning OD off and still got the same results. Before with the OD off, it would stay exactly at 60mph.

Need to know all of the following: Engine size, transmission, axle(s) gear ratio, and stock or oversize (if so, what size) tires.

I just noticed it the other day. I dont usually drive a long enough distance to use cruise. My tuner instructions say to never tow on the performance tune. I had a fairly heavy payload a few weeks ago and wonder in that has got it searching. I checked for any error codes and there were none. I changed to my tow tune and will use that for about a week and then go back to the performance tune and see if I get the same results.

project... Here are the answers to your questions: 5.4L, 4 spd auto trans, 3.73 limited slip, stock 275/65R18 tires.

With those parameter's I'd suspect the tune.

I'd suggest contacting Mike for ideas.
