4r70w tranny actin funny

Today, passing someone going slow enough to kick it in first, no prob, hit second and wind it down and just when I know it should be shifting to third, it's like it went in neutral, then finally shifted after I adjusted pedal giving it a little shot of gas. After that nothing! Anyone have this?

And on the way home just now, everything is fine. Could this be electrical? How bout springs or the o/d band? Not sure where to go with this as it happened once, but don't want any repeats if I can help it. It's a 2000 f-150 4x4, 5.4 4r70w. Any suggestions of components and what makes it shift? Thanks in advance fellas.

shift problem

I had the same problem that started small and got worse ... (read my thread which is down the page) and finally took it in to have it looked at. They found a broken spring and piston that was locking up. My problem started small and got worse... and after they fixed the 2-3 shift , now my OD starts to slip when it gets hot.

I'm going to have to remember it for when it's time to fix, but the truck has run absolutely fine since, weird huh! I drove around 500 km's the day after and was flawless, even other problems seemed fine, again weird. I'm going to have to have my tranny guy fix if it's a little too in depth but thanks for the 4-1-1.

Added to that I checked my shop manuals and it looks easy enough to fix, I was going to do a fluid change shortly anyhow so I'll look into it.
