4x4 low range not iluminated - 2002 screw fx4

2002 f150 screw fx4 4x4 - When I put my truck in 4 high, the 4x4 light illuminates. When I next put it in 4 low, things sound and feel right and it seems to be in 4 low, but the low range light does not illuminate. This has worked in the past. Of course I am in Neutral with the brake on while changing modes. Things I've checked: -The bulb is not burned out -The speedometer shows twice the speed when in 4 low even though the light in not illuminated Any idea why the light does not come on? (I started a new thread because I had the wrong model year in the previous post title)
