tranny cooler

I am a newbie that needs advice. I have a 98 F150, 4.6 without tow package. I recently bought a 3700# travel trailer that I can pull with my my wife's tahoe, w/towing pkg. However, I would like to pull the camper w/my truck, so I installed class IV hitch, prodigy brake controller, and wired in the 7 pin elec. connector. I purchased an imperial plate/fin trans. cooler to install, but am unsure how to do this. I know which line I need to run, but do I need to cut the existing hard tranny line and connect rubber hoses to cut ends? If so, should those cut ends be flared with fittings, or just clamp on the rubber lines ???

Plan where you will mount he cooler and the route the lines will take getting to the cooling return line location without short turns colapseng the hoses..
Cut the line and put a small flare on each end if you want, just enough to get the hose forced on over. This will insure they won't blow off in cold weather when the cold pressure is higher. Or double clamp each one.
I had a line blow once in zero temps, 11 pm, 100 miles from home, from a hose relaxing under the clamp.
Don't hurt to do a little better job for the long term.

Flare the lines and don't run massive lengths of line get some 5/16 cooler line from the parts store and bend it to route it that way. Double clamps are a bad idea as they tend to cause a bubble between the 2 and a future leak. Burning up a transmission because of a poor cooler install is not a good thing.

Thanks for the info. I am an electrical technician, not a plumber ! I don't do plumbing in the house, and am leary about doing it on my truck. A golfing buddy of mine has an auto repair business. I am taking my truck into his shop on Monday to get both manifolds replaced, imagine that, and he said that he will hook up the tranny cooler for me. It will be a piece of cake for him, and a sigh of relief for me. I sure don't want to blow a tranny line 100 miles from home, with a camper, mad as #@** wife, and two screaming kids !! I will leave it to the pros. Thanks again !
