Shift Kit jerks nasty

When shiftin from 1st to 2nd, my friends shift kit jerks so bad it feels like we hit a wall. Its an 02 F150 wit the 4r70. This happens at any throttle position. But when he floors it and it shifts, thats when it feels the worst. This only happens on the first shift. Is it normal?

Does he also have a chip?
Is the shift kit a new valve body/separator plate or an electronic one like the JET unit?

To tell you the truth, I dont know which one it is. His reverse messed up about 2 months ago. When he took it to get it reparied, the guy said hed throw in the shift kit for 250. We could go ask which one it is. Does it make a difference which it is?

Oh and he does have a SC 1715 on it. But I dont think it has anythin to do wit it. He installed it after the hard shiftin and it stayed the same. Thanks

It isn't the shift kit that's causing the harsh shifting.

Probably a problem with the 1-2 accumulator spring or the installer screwed something else up.
