VSS location

I was wondering, on the 97-98 f-150 and non superduty f-250 4x4's, is the vss in the t-case or in the rear axle?Dont know if this in the right place but it has something to do with a tranny...sorta. A

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have a 97 F150 with the E4OD Trans. The sensor on the rear end is the Rear ABS sensor, the VSS is on the side of the trans tail section. I have heard that there is another VSS/OSS on the top of the trans, but I've never seen it. I did recently replace the VSS and RABS. There were easy to replace, and didn't cost that much. Yours may be a bit different than mine.....

The VSS is located on the left rear of the transmission on all 97 and 98 auto trannys. 2/4WD are the same.

Correct, I think the confusion come from that the 92-96 and 99+ trucks use have the VSS on the rear diff with the ABS sensor. Of course the 97-98s have mechanical odometers for some strange reason making them different.
