Major slippage with '00 screw 4x4 5.4

It just started today...drove ~400 miles, then all of the sudden within 5 miles of our camp, it starts slipping. It is really hard to take off from a stop, any throttle at all and the tranny slips and makes a fast shudder until it hooks up. When cruising (35-70), it hold speed and accelerates perfect, but when i shift into OD it jumps up in revs 500-700 RPM's then shifts and will come out of lock up and OD when just a small amount of throttle is used. Any help would be really appreciated! This has never happened before. The truck has 72K, and the dealer claims they did a tranny service at 40K when i bought it. Thanks again

Brian

I would hope that you, at least, have checked the level and condition of the transmission fluid.

it might be your 3rd gear shift servo in the tranny,my 2000 ranger did the same thing. does your speedo go to "0" when its slippin? thats what mine did so it could be 3rd gear shift servo

I just got the tranny all pulled apart...it seems that the pump wasnt making proper pressure. So (fingers crossed) it only needs a pump and R&R...we'll see
