shifter indicator on wrong letter.

Has anyone ever had this problem happen just overnight??

I get into the car this morning and the shift indicator on the dash shows the wrong gear. It is moved over to the next letter.

Park is now on reverse. it is really annoying. It all works fine and drives but drives me nuts.

Thanks

There is a thumbwheel adjustment behind the bottom cover of your steering column for this. I've never done it though as I run stickshifts.

Chances are that the thumbwheel and threaded tube have cracked, mine did. I pulled the whole thing together with a mini zip tie, and managed to be just 1/2 gear off......I've been living with it for years.
