Question What is the difference?

Hi gang,

Wondering what is the difference between the 4R70E and 4R75E? Is there one that is "better for towing" or other things?

It seems most folks have the 70, but my '05 SCab has the 75.

Thanks

Dano

Beefier internals over the 4R70w. The 4R75E was introduced in 04 with the new body style because for some reason ford wouldn't the 4R100 (big tranny that replaced the E4OD) in the half tons.

Might want to take a looky through this to see what came in what.

That reason is that the 4R100 died at the end of the 2004 model year.

It made more sense to upgrade the 4R70 to handle the additional torque than to put the much larger 4R100 in the 5.4L F150, especially since the that would be the only use of the 4R100.
