Auto Tranny Lost Reverse and Shifting

Folks:

I have a 2002 F150 Screw 5.4L Auto tranny.

I heard a clunk after shifting into reverse today and hitting a little gas. No reverse left. When going forward, it stays in 1st gear unless I rev it more and then let off the accelerator.

I'd prefer not to do a full rebuild if I can. It only has 50K miles.

I'm in Omaha, NE. What can I expect, give or take, for a possible fix and what can I expect for cost for a full rebuild??? or swap???

Thanks for your input.

Sounds like an internal parts failure to me. Drop the pan and see if there's any big metal bits and pieces attached to the magnet or floating around in the bottom of the pan. I think you're gonna be needin' a replacement unit or an overhaul. Sorry.

A rebuild should run you $800 - 1200

I have never been to a trany shop and spent less then 1000.To fix it I would say about 1200 to 1500 For a rebuild you can look at 2000 to 3000.
