Question noise in rear end or transmission

Sometimes when going uphill in 97 f-150 2wd rear-end or trans shutters and feels like it is grabbing doesnt do on level road just when going up hill thanks in advance for any help

Have you determined it isn't just an engine misfire? They often show up first under load, such as going up a hill while in a higher gear.
