Exclamation No 3rd or O/D Gear

Ok I have a '99 f150 (v-6 ext cab with a auto trans)...and I have no 3rd gear or O/D. I was driving down the freeway and put it in neutral and reved it up a little(just done exhaust work) and let the rpms get down to around 1500 -200(no tach so i dunno) and put it back in drive...and got back on the gas and it still revved like i had it in neutral. so i kept trying to get it to grasp the gear and go but..no luck. It still goes through first into second but nothing after that. I was wondering if the tranny is shot....or just a simple fix....any help would be great.

damn thats not good. I think you ripped a gear might need to replace the gear or a whole new trans.

haha well a new F150 E4OD transmission will go for about $800 - $1,000 ( excluding installation, and gears most likely over $200 ( excluding install also )

From All-Pro Transmission

No need to replace the complete tranny. A soft overhaul is pretty much all you need. Ohm-out the E.P.C. solonoid(it should Ohm out 3-6 ohms.) The 3-4 clutches are in the same cluster or drum. A banner kit less steels will include all new clutches, inner and outer seals and gaskets. Check for torque converter clutch material in the filter. You must cut the filter open and inspect the color...if it's black the clutches are coming apart in the converter and that must also be replaced. You will need to get the code off of the converter for the correct application...it would either be a painted dot specifying the color or one or two letters stamped into the converter. A tranny shop on an average will charge $1700 - $2100 to do a rebuild (including parts, labor, and fluids without hard parts.) Hope this helps you ...if you need more info just post "All-Pro Help Me" in the title box.
