Go to www.tccoa.com, and read all of the information in the transmission section. The guy really explains how the 4R70W works, and how to make some minor modifications that cost peanuts, and it works better than Transgo or any of those others.
I've done it on my truck when it had 97,000 miles, and it's still going strong at 155,000.

I got my shift kit from Troyer Preformance (they were great to deal with by the way) My tranny shifts beautiful now, infact the shop that put mine in liked the way it shifted so much he was looking into carring that kit, I only wish I put one in sooner,

Look here for your truck reefbluelx,

Thanks for the link SKRWZ, I like the Transgo Kit that Troy sells. The kit comes with three stages do you happen to know what stage you used?

No problem, ,,when I got my kit put in I told them to put the 2nd stage in but the shop mixed the kitt up a bit for me, they put in the second stage a bit of the first to "soften it up" on the top a bit at first i was kinda pissed that he did that but now, i really like it, I found out from the owner of the tranny shop they were test driving my truck and really impressed with the kit I'm glad they installed it the way they did and i couln't be happier with it

No It's ok, but first remember I am in Canada so prices may differ a little, When i had my shift kit put in I got a cash deal though a friend of mine who is a mechenic and this was his Buddy who did this and he recommended for this job, but i had the shift kit put in, and new fluid + a tranny filter (drained the tourqe converter also) changed, along with the transfer case fluid and the front + rear fluid in the differetal's changed also i think it came out around 400 bucks with laubor and all the fluids it may seem like alot and it was but the tranny needed the fluid changed ,it was long overdue,+ a filter, and I had never changed the fluid in the transfer case or the differetal's, ..any how I really like the shift kit and notice the truck throws you back in the seat more when you put your foot into it .........and by the way I have may have a differnt Transmissoin in my truck the you I have a E code A E4OD I'm not sure if that would matter in the way the shift kit works or not.

If works good in your tranny that means it's a quality product. I'm sure they put the same quality in the 4r70w kit as they did the e40d kit. Ohh and I will enjoy it. haha

I had I trans shop in stall the transgo kit and it sucked bad if you read on some of the mustang site they its messed up several trans. I did the j-mod in mine and have about 36000 miles on it since and it will break your neck from 1st to 2nd gear. An liked mentioned earlier it cost peanuts to do.

Sorry, what's the J-Mod? Did you do it yourself or a shop? Mentioned earlier?
Is it in the link to the Thunderbird Cougar site?
